We develop and support a service management application, which involves technical innovation, sales, marketing, communication, graphic design, implementation, documentation, consultancy and support. TOPdesk’s UK branch began operating in early 2005 and has been growing rapidly ever since.
Job description
Selling TOPdesk products means selling a solution. This involves analysing the client’s requirements and translating these into a TOPdesk format. The position will involve frequent communication with both (international) clients and your colleagues in the Netherlands. You will play an important role in the further expansion of TOPdesk into the international market.
Our ideal candidate:
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Affinity with IT and customer relations
• Enjoys working in an international environment
• Can work both independently and in a team
• Native English speaker
• University degree preferable
What to expect
We offer the necessary training, part of which will take place at our Head Office in the Netherlands. You will be assumed a large amount of responsibility after a short introduction period. How did you end up at TOPdesk?
After finishing my degree in December 2005, I looked on the LSE careers website and just applied – I liked the sound of the job. I had a telephone interview and the way the girl I spoke to portrayed the company sounded really appealing.
What’s your role at TOPdesk?
I’m an Account manager, Office manager, Events manager…, and in addition to selling, I do some HR and recruitment. It’s a small office so you can be responsible for many different things, if you want to be. There is a good vibe in the office and there are always new challenges.
I enjoy the face-to-face meetings with clients. You get to present a product that you like and understand, and you can do it with a good conscience. It’s important to believe in the product you’re selling – you know that it’s going to help the client. Success stories make the job really worthwhile. You’ve gone there and analysed the wishes and requirements of the clients, and based on what you tell them their work will be made easier.
What do you like about TOPdesk?
I like the team – it’s really social. We work together towards team targets and often go out for drinks and dinners together. A small office means that you can form good, solid relationships with your colleagues and your boss. Not only are your suggestions and comments taken on board; you can also initiate ideas and instigate projects. You have the opportunity to be part of something that is growing.
